Go further with AI.

Upper Stage builds AI that does real work for PE firms, asset managers and the companies they own. Inside the systems you run today, and the leaner ones that come next.

What we do

AI for the people who run the business, not a platform for IT

Most firms do not need another system. They need the work that already happens in the CRM, Outlook and the data room to take less of their week. That is where we start.

Build

Agents that do a job

An agent that reads the calendar and writes the CRM record. One that drafts the Monday pipeline note from the data your team already keeps. Built on real data, with the people who own the workflow, and running by the end of the engagement.

Redesign

Processes that assume AI

Deal sourcing, contact logging, portfolio reporting, investor updates. We map how the work runs today, remove the steps a model can do, and leave people the decisions. Then we train the team on the new version.

Advise

A plan leadership will back

Which tools to buy, which to skip, what to build, and in what order. A roadmap written for partners, with costs, risks and the first three projects, so the firm can commit without a twelve-month platform decision.

How it works

Discovery, pilot, rollout

Small scope, real data, something in production before the first invoice feels large. No retainer to start.

1

Discovery

Two weeks inside your systems and your calendar. We find the three workflows where AI pays for itself first and write them up with effort, risk and what changes for the team.

Two weeks. Fixed fee.

2

Pilot

One workflow, built end to end and used by the people who own it. We measure the time it gives back and fix what the first week surfaces.

Four to six weeks.

3

Rollout

The pilot goes to the rest of the team with training, documentation and a short list of what to build next. You keep everything we built.

Scoped from the pilot.

Who we work with

Firms where a few people carry a lot of the work

Upper Stage is one person with a deep bench of AI tooling. That suits teams that want results in weeks and a direct line to whoever is building them.

  • PE and growth equitySourcing, contact logging, pipeline reporting and portfolio data that lives in Salesforce and email.
  • Asset managersInvestor relations, meeting prep and the reporting cycle that eats the end of every quarter.
  • Portfolio companiesSales and service operations that the sponsor wants running leaner before the next raise.
  • ConsultanciesSubcontracted AI delivery for firms that have the client and need the practitioner.

About

Joe Hall

Joe founded Upper Stage after leading the AI practice at a digital transformation firm, where he put AI to work for private equity firms, asset managers and enterprise clients. Before that he was a CRM solution architect, and before that an engineer in the aerospace industry.

He builds for business users, not engineering teams: the deal partner, the IR lead, the ops manager who owns the workflow and has to live with the result. The work is hands-on, from the first discovery call to the agent running in production.

The upper stage is the part of a rocket that does the last, hardest piece of the climb, after the heavy lifting is done. It has no margin for waste. That is the standard here: a solution that fits the requirement exactly, and a requirement that fits the mission.
